Leg Infections

Many of us have experience various types of leg problems at some stage of our lives. These pains may be the normal aches and pains of daily living or they could be caused by various leg infections. There are various types of leg infections that many of us are not even aware of. These leg infections in some cases will need to be treated by your family doctor.

You can also get Deep Venous Thrombosis or a ruptured Baker’s Cyst. These leg infections which are in the form of a clot will cause a swelling to occur along the back of the calf and the leg muscles. You should have your doctor see about treating these types of leg infections.

Another of the leg infections that we have all heard about are varicose veins. We usually associate this condition with pregnant women. However any one becomes affected by varicose veins. These leg infections cause the veins to be tender, soft knots that balloon out. This is due to the pressure that is put on weak veins.

The best way that you can treat this condition is by wearing support stockings or hose. The other treatment that you can do is to sit down as much as possible. At any time that your varicose veins become too much you should see your doctor for medical advice and treatment.

You can also get Cellulites, Lymphangitis or Osteomyelitis leg infections. In these leg infections you will have a fever. There will be red tender area on your leg. There may even be a red streak that is seen along your leg. Cellulitis is an infection that you will get on the surface of your leg. Lymphangitis which is another of the leg infections is an infection the attacks the lymph channels.

Osteomyelitis which is a leg infection, affects our leg bones. These leg infections can be treated with heat applications and an antibiotic ointment. You will need to call the doctor if you have a fever due these 3 leg infections or if they refuse to respond to the heat treatment.

As you see there are different types of leg infections that you can get. There are as any ways of treating these infections. However if you can there are always preventative measures that you can use. Sometimes these preventative measurers are much better at treating your leg infections in the long run.
